SECOND ORDER ♛ VIDEO

[The video opens up to a Dratini egg. Standing around it are a few Pokémon: a Torchic, a Vulpix, and a Staravia. The trio seem curious about the egg, as if they've never seen it before.]

How do you get an egg to hatch?

[The question comes from somewhere off-screen. The video swivels to look up at Logan, who is frowning at the egg. He doesn't seem to notice the camera is pointed at him.]

I've had this one for well over a month. It doesn't even show signs of hatching.

[And the one Reaver got hatched quite some time ago! Clearly this is an exercise in Logan's shitty luck. Then again, looking at those unevolved Pokémon it's quite possible that he just sucks at this whole "Pokémon training" thing. Or a horrible combination of that and shit luck. That's probably it.]

I have kept the egg with me at all times. What else does it require?

[He hasn't even dropped it! Come on, that has got to count for something!]

I also have a question in regards to evolution. Is it possible for a Pokémon to simply decide not to evolve? I have two that should have evolved by now but haven't for... some reason I can't figure out.

[Logan turns a bit, realizing that the camera is focused on him, and gestures to the Torchic. He retrieves the 'Gear from the cameraman, a sulking Snivy, and gestures to it as well.]

I would appreciate any advice on either subject. Thank you.

Well, I would certainly hope they're not all compatible. I assume there's no rumored way to get home through this?

Not as far as I can tell.

You don't seem particularly concerned. Would you prefer to stay here?

Oh, no way! I just...we know the badges don't do anything, and there's not any other rumors on how to get home. I actually hear a lot more staying in one place than I did traveling, and it's a lot cheaper, too.

Some Pokemon don't want to evolve. Others need more than just levels.

Why? Wouldn't they want to get stronger? I've researched the two in question and they've already surpassed the requirements to evolve.

I suppose I can see why it would be cheaper. I find travelling to be far more interesting, however.

Try communicating with them. I have one that dislikes the evolved forms [because they're less cute ;;], but reasons vary.

I've had this egg for about a year and it still hasn't hatched. I don't know why but sometimes it happens. So far it's only happened to me, but you know how that is! Welcome to the "eggs take forever to hatch" club! It really sucks, but, when it hatches, you'll be so happy!

I have to say, the moment I give an egg to someone else it hatches within a couple of days! It's so weird! I've had one egg hatch under me though~! [ She beams, prideful that ONE egg hatched under her. ] It took about a little over a year for her to hatch.

[Surely you didn't think that he's going to leave you alone for long periods of time, even now that his utter charmer of a butler has shown up, did you? It would hardly be responsible of him to allow the King of Albion (because you...are still king, right? ofcourseyouare) to wander into whatever fresh new disaster this place can throw at him completely unaccompanied, after all!

And besides, you're fun to annoy. So he can claim both personal entertainment and a vaguely defined, incredibly half-assed sense of responsibility! It's the best possible arrangement that can come out of this, really.]

Have you considered a more...physical approach, by any chance? After all, percussive encouragement worked rather well on mine.

[Admittedly, Logan probably could have attempted to escape now that Barry has shown up and is... occupying Reaver most of the time. It would be fairly simple, really. He could probably get at least a day's head start. But with the egg to look after and several weak, unevolved Pokémon, that would be a horrible idea. He can't put himself at risk! So clearly the only option is to lineface forever at Reaver and kind of hate everything.]

[...So no different than usual, really.]

I'm not going to harm it.

[Come on now, Reaver. Surely you know him better than that! If he's given options, he always goes for the neutral one!! He can't damage his moral standing in ~~Albion~~ Johto, now can he?]

Is there some way to communicate with them?

[Like... do you speak Pokémonese or something?]

[How do you have the patience for it? He'd just throw it in the PC and be done with it. ...Assuming he can figure out how to work the PC...]

I suppose it must have something to do with the trainer, then.

Of course. It was merely a suggestion, and there's no guarantee you would even hurt whatever's in there - after all, if it's lasted this long, I don't see how you would damage it in any way simply by following through on that suggestion in the first place - ah, but clearly Your Majesty would know best.

[He actually isn't offended by that any! Just sort of openly wondering why you're being such an idiot about this. They aren't anywhere near the same thing, they just require approximately the same level of passive-aggressive sarcasm. You understand.]

If they work hard and follow orders well, they receive rewards. I wouldn't consider that spoiling them.

If they work hard and follow orders well, that's doing what they're supposed to do in the first place - and as far as I'm concerned, that's not anything exceptional or deserving of rewards.

[His words are accompanied with one of those idle, dismissive gestures, however; clearly he's not terribly interested in continuing the discussion. Probably because he's had it several times already with various people here; he's aware that it's an unpopular opinion. He just doesn't happen to care.

...and besides, he's still having a bit of a crisis over the lack of weapons, and the fact that he's supposed to use these stupid...things as protection in a world where he can't defend himself properly.
