...Is it that you think you would not have been believe, or that those who did hear of it thought it to be a lie? The people might not want to imagine being at risk, but surely they'd understand that their ruler has nothing to gain from tricking them. In fact, I think they'd be willing to do quite a lot to knowingly keep that peace.
